In many countries, you may not need to tip the cab drivers unless they go out of their way to help with you, like carrying your bags. In some countries, there may be special circumstances that you will need to be aware of. For instance, in Mexico, it is common practice to even tip the attendants at the gas pumps and baggers at supermarkets.

When dining at restaurants or going on tours, calculate a percentage of the total amount featured in your bill to offer as tips. This figure is calculated on the amount that is billed prior to adding the taxes. When dining at a restaurants, a tip of anywhere between 10% to 20% is standard.

However, when eating out in a developing countries or in a restaurant with more than reasonable prices, tipping a higher amount can make a whole lot of difference to the staff. The tips restaurants collect are usually pooled and shared among all the employees in many cases.
